On Sarah Palin's Qualifications

Richard Land has endorsed Sarah Palin for Vice President:

Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission: "Governor Palin is a vice-presidential selection which shows that John McCain at the age of 72 today is still able to think outside the box. Governor Palin will delight the Republican base. She is pro-life. It appears that Senator Obama played it safe in picking Senator Biden and Senator McCain made the bold and unconventional choice in picking Governor Palin."
I find it ironic that Land was so quick to endorse the nomination of Sarah Palin for Vice President of the United States.

In Richard Land's eyes, Sarah Palin is fully qualified to be a heart-beat away from having the authority to lead the most powerful nation in the history of the world. Powerful enough to incinerate our entire planet with nuclear weaponry at a moment's notice.

In Richard Land's eyes, however, neither Sarah Palin nor any other woman will ever be qualified to have the authority to lead even the smallest Southern Baptist church.

How long will it be before Southern Baptist churches stop discriminating against women? Their secular politics leaves much to be desired, but it is still more Christian than their ecclesiology.

Surely you were not surprised that the chief SBC Republican shill endorsed Palin.

Undoubtedly it is her Pentecostal commitment to the prosperity gospel that is the economic salvation of the nation. It must be the new McCain-Palin economic plan.

My comment is that this election years is based on race/gender period. Not on qualifications. Americans are not paying attention. So I ask you look at comparison and really ask yourself - if Palin's educational background was Obama's there would be no question that she was most qualified - so why isn't anyone questioning that she has no real educational background or experience to run our country if something happens to McCain while in office - it is scary..... Read on please....
You are The Boss... which team would you hire?

With America facing historic debt, multiple war fronts, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, skyrocketing Federal spending, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc. etc., this is an unusually critical election year.

Let's look at the educational background of your two options:

Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. politic al science with a specialization in international relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude

& Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in political science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 of 899

& Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism

Now, which team are you going to hire ?

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.... .

* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic, different.'
* Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story.
* If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.
* Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.
* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather lady, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.
* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.
* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
* If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant , you're very

* If your wife is a Harvard graduate laywer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's
values don't represent America's.
* If you're husband is nicknamed 'First Dude', with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the
secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer now.

changebeliever7, you are measuring things with an elitist attitude. Jesus chose 12 riff raffs to be his closest 12. Forget their college degrees. That only means they are deeply embedded in the humanistic viewpoints taught in those liberal colleges.

It sounds like you are also one who wants to point fingers at things Senator McCain has done in his past, which he has repented. If God throws this into the sea of forgetfulness, who are you to bring up his past? Are you not judging by your carnal mind and not by God's standards?

I pray that you get off your high horse and look at the real records of the 4. I think you will find that Senators Obama and Biden are 2 of the most liberal senators to ever grace Congress. They are both in favor of abortion, and, Obama even takes that a step further by allowing babies who survive an abortion to be thrown in laundry closets to die.

So, all their education won't mean one iota in God's eyes if they have blood on their hands.

Let's be honest here. Someone who has been a mayor and a governor has more experience than a Senator. Senators just introduce legislation and vote. They have no experience with balancing a budget, having personnel (such as Sarah Palin) under them, none have been in charge of a National Guard, and the list goes on.

Please take your elitist attitude to the altar, because I'm afraid Jesus isn't impressed. God takes the foolish things of the world to confound the wise.

Did NOT vote for Obama. I am a woman, high moral U& spiritual values, born into Southern Baptist family. Grew up with the ability to listen, observe, investigate & do not take one persons option as truth. Will not vote for a woman because she is a woman-must prove their ability to hold the highest office in USA I am not a lamb! Now,Sarah Palin. Much can be said and proven regarding her inability to hold the office of President but if comparisons regarding her academic accomplishments, just note that she took or completed "semesters", am I missing something? Oh yea, never graduated with a degree! Come up with a better comparison.
