Penni Passes Away

My sister Penni Bourque passed away this morning. She died of ovarian cancer. Here are a couple of my favorite pictures of her. Recent photos and video of her can be found here at the Dallas Morning News. She will be featured in a story about end-of-life care tomorrow.

The picture above is my favorite picture of Penni. I think this photo of Penni with my brother Pat and I was taken in the summer of 1980. She was about 17 years old.

In the picture below I am holding her the day she came home from the hospital. I was eleven years old.

Bruce,
Watching the podcast of your sister and her family inspired and moved me. Your little sister was lovely. God will use you as He used my Uncle as an agent of love and remembrance for your niece. Your family is in my prayers.

My heart goes out to you and your family, Bruce.

I hope you can find some comfort in knowing that her part in the outstanding series on the edge of life in the DMN will have a far reaching beneficial impact. What she was involved in at Baylor UMC is extremely important and will continue to be helpful to many others.

I am so sorry. Prayers for you and your family. May God comfort you now more than ever. I recently lost a member of my family -- I know where you are right now. From what little I know of her, I'm guessing you're a very proud brother. Embrace that gift.
