Roeder and the O'Reilly Defense

Rumors are spreading on the internet that defense attorneys for Scott Roeder, who is being charged with assassinating abortion doctor George Tiller, may defend him by saying he was brainwashed from watching Bill O'Reilly and listening to right wing talk radio hate speech.

I doubt that such a defense would be successful, but am inclined to agree that the people watching Fox News and listening to right wing talk radio are being brainwashed. It's not illegal to consent to this kind of brainwashing and it doesn't absolve the guilt of anyone who acts in an illegal fashion in response to the propaganda with which they fill their mind.

It was reported today that the death penalty is off the table. Another good reason to abolish this barbarous practice. If this doesn't merit it, what does?

Strikes me as legal malpractice to attempt such a ridiculous defense, but it would make for some wonderful internet flame wars!

Bruce,

Pro-lifers like myself condemn the murder of Dr. Tiller without question. We believe life is sacred from the womb to the tomb.

Before the left gives Dr. Tiller marytr statis, why not do a post on the 60,000 late-term abortions that he has performed since 1973. Let's hear the truth about the viable babies that were killed for convenience sake. Don't hide behind words like reproductive health and pro-choice. I would like to see you give some balance to this very divisive subject.

By the way, Fox News was the only news organization that ever attempted to give us the facts on partial-birth abortion and Dr. Tiller.

I suppose there is ample documentation to support the claim that "viable babies that were killed for convenience sake" because surely such provocative claims cannot be made without offering evidence.

Dr Prescott prefers the government run media... it fit's his template better than dealing with both sides of an issue. Fair and Balanced?
