I do not think the President of the United States should be a liar, and believe that the overwhelming majority of U.S. citizens agree with me. For security reasons, the whole truth cannot always be revealed, but it is quite obvious that lies are seldom made to protect our nation. Almost invariably, the political fortunes of the prevaricator are at stake.

I agree with former President Carter on this. And, totally apart from political philosphies, this is one reason I can't support any of the 3 major candidates. Ms. Clinton has clearly lied about being shot at in a foreign country, and some things McCain and Obama appear equally shady. Of course, we have to factor in that some of what is written and said about are lies that make them look like liars, but I have no confidence in any of them.
This and other reasons leaves me voting for some third party candidate who can't win but will (hopefully) leave my conscience clean and intact.
