Last April a group of Baptist Convention leaders got together and signed the North American Baptist Covenant.
Today Mercer University is hosting the annual meeting of the North American Baptist Fellowship.
Tomorrow Jimmy Carter will host another meeting of Baptist Convention leaders.
Exciting things are happening in moderate, mainstream Baptist life.
I'll post an update about Carter's meeting sometime tomorrow.

My wife and I joined a Baptist Church (American Baptist Convention) when we married in '86. We later moved and were active in a Baptist General Convention church until another move brought us into SBC country.
We have not found a single Baptist church in our area that does not put country (i.e., George Bush) ahead of God and War ahead of Peace and Love.
I wish you and other moderate Baptists luck. I fear that you're going to need a lot of it.
