The nation's two living Baptist ex-presidents are calling for a historic convocation in Atlanta next year, intended to improve the "negative" image of Baptists in North America and to unite the majority of Baptists into a loose-knit network to address social ills.
President Jimmy Carter and President Bill Clinton will announce the 2008 convocation in a Jan. 9 press conference in Atlanta, following a meeting of about 80 diverse Baptist leaders at the Carter Presidential Center.

Interesting to say the least. It's nice to see this, but I think it should have come earlier. We Baptist have a long road to go to healing. Healing not only within but the image of baptists from the outside. It can be done. We must never forget to put our hope into action.
Clinton's antics with Monica and others makes this truly comical.
There is no such thing as a "liberal Christian" because the two words are mutually exclusive.
All one needs do is take an open-minded look at what liberalism stands for (abortion, free sex, gay rights etc). Left-wingers like Clinton and Carter need to find God themselves before attempting to lead anyone else to Him.
