Nothing could reveal the moral bankruptcy of Southern Baptist ethics more than the rationale for torture offered by a professor of ethics at Southeastern Seminary.
Yes, right after Southern Baptist ethicist David P. Gushee, who had already been one of the original signers of the declaration against torture of the National Religious Campaign Against Torture, formed Evangelicals for Human Rights to martial against torture and other human rights violations. Even the NAE signed on. But the SBC defends torture. Disgusting.
Oh, and he tries to justify torture within a Just War framework when JWT already specifically rules it out!
