Religious Right Ducking for Cover

As the GOP's approval rating is taking a beating from the war in Iraq, the Religious Right is ducking for cover. At a recent meeting of the secretive Council for National Policy, James Dobson, Richard Viguerie and other leaders of the Religious Right spoke loudly about their disatisfaction with the GOP's majority party leadership on their pet social issues.

Dobson and other Religious Right leaders are threatening to withhold their support in the mid-term elections.

Doing so would give them a convenient way to excuse themselves from their inability to deliver the support that the GOP needs to maintain its majority after the mid-term elections.

Looks like a little backpedaling is taking place. Focus on the Family has denied the NY Times story.

One can only hope. Now if we can just get the Democrats to actually help the workers.
