Mike Huckabee wants to amend the Constitution to prevent children born in the U.S. to illegal aliens from automatically becoming American citizens, according to his top immigration surrogate — a radical step no other major presidential candidate has embraced.Whatever became of the land where ALL persons are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights?
Mr. Huckabee, who won last week's Republican Iowa caucuses, promised Minuteman Project founder James Gilchrist that he would force a test case to the Supreme Court to challenge birthright citizenship, and would push Congress to pass a 28th Amendment to the Constitution to remove any doubt.

the automatic birth citizenship is a huge incentive for illegal immigration.
I think DS is doing arm chair speculation on this.
The "huge incentives" are jobs, enough money to provide for one's family members and access to a decent education and health care.
I agree on all those incentives you list. Having a child that is an American citizen is one easy tool to access all those things. I have been around illegals and they do this all the time, come to U.S. to have the kid so he/she is a citizen, go back home, then they get access to all sorts of government welfare, U.S. public education, as well as eventual sponsorship and citizenship for themselves. The child being an American citizen is one strategy they use to get those ultimate incentives.
I'm not against immigration but if the U.S. wants to discourage illegal immigration they should look again at this policy and consider that interaction at the hospital as a potential opportunity to register illegals or some other creative solution.
