A recent jury verdict in Guyman, Oklahoma provides another reason why prayers at public school sporting events are a bad idea.
Like recent cases involving the school board at Dover, Pennsylvania and the County Commissioners in Haskell County, Oklahoma, this case involved another Christian defending his faith by committing perjury in a court of law.

I'm not sure which part of this event is more embarrassing: the dismissal of the student athlete for refusing to pray words she didn't believe (something for which all Christians ought to give her credit); the lying school officials; the violence of the "Christian" principal; or the fact that it took the defense attorneys so long to find 12 jurors who would be willing to believe the testimony of atheists!
This is shameful. One of the things that got Roger Williams in trouble with the Massachusetts Bay authorities was his strong contention that nonbelievers ought not to be forced to swear oaths in God's name or on the Bible. Of course, I hold to the even more radical Anabaptist view that Jesus was serious about Christians not swearing any oaths at all!
Any form of Christian persecution of others is so disturbing--so antithetical to anything like Christ!
