On May 31st I reported what sources in Europe disclosed to me about a conference that Southern Baptist leaders were organizing to weaken the Baptist World Alliance and create a world-wide body under SBC control.
Today, the Biblical Recorder published a report about the conference that SBC leaders held in Romania.
There's a world of difference between the missionary strategy and methods of Baptists in the Southern Baptist Convention and those in the Baptist World Alliance. Southern Baptists are exporting their takeover methods overseas.
The SBC's current modus operandi involves taking over both denominational politics and secular politics.

Unfortunately, this imperialist mentality was pretty strong in the SBC even before the fundamentalist takeover. I have spoken to countless American Baptists, for instance, who would constantly be told about an SBC mission in Philadelphia or Detroit, etc. "because there is no evangelical witness there" when there are dozens of ABC churches throughout the region. Then, in the '80s, the SBC organized "Southern Baptist Convention of Canada" because it had no respect for the work of the various Canadian Baptist conventions under the federal umbrella of Canadian Baptist Ministries.
The Europe grab of imperialism in place of the fraternal work of equals of the BWA and the European Baptist Federation just continues the same pattern.
