Religious People Abandoning GOP

Associate Press is reporting that Pew Research is disclosing that over the past year the GOP has lost the support of 14% of white Evangelicals and 11% of white Catholics.

Now we know why James Dobson and Richard Land are ramping up voter registration programs in Evangelical churches.

I love it when these groups come to my church and approach me to sign their petitions and read their literature. The look on their faces when I respectfully decline is priceless.

mom2,

You really ought to read the information in the links before you comment.

Voter registration drives in churches has been very wide spread, especially during the last two election cycles. Only those who choose to be unaware could possibly have missed it.

My husband and I have also had to respectfully decline to sign petitions circulated in our Church and our Sunday School class. I really resent the use of my Lord's house for those purposes.

To TammyJo58,

Do you get as incensed about democratic politicians who go to black churches and pimp on behalf of the democratic party? Jesse Jackson is responsible for more voter registrations than conservatives.

Bruce,

I haven't seen any posts on the democrats doing voter registration in black churches. And how about Bill Clinton, John Kerry and others using black church pulpits to get out the vote for democrats. Once again, how about some balance?

To Jim Paslay,

As a matter of fact - I do! The Lord's house IS the Lord's house. And is that the justification you would use as to why it would be okay is "white" churches? You don't have to look further than Genesis to see that the "they did it first" excuse sounds a whole lot like how we got into the mess we are in now.
