The article quotes from the blog of Dennis Newkirk, pastor of Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond and cites a post that is no longer on Newkirk's blog which said,
"We believe that a few Baptist leaders have taken it upon themselves to violate our church's autonomy and independence by their timing of anti-proposal publications and resolutions."Such violations of church autonomy are not unusual in Southern Baptist life in Oklahoma. A trustee on the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma and a former president of the SBC unsuccessfully employed similar tactics when First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City was making a decision over whether to leave the Southern Baptist Convention.
