A Third General Calls for Rumsfeld's Resignation

The New York Times has published a story about "Third Retired General Wants Rumsfeld Out." This time it is Lt. General Gregory Newbold, who was the military's top operations officer before the invasion of Iraq.

How many strikes will this Secretary of Defense get before he's out?

Rummy has never been especially beloved to the military establishment. He has a lot of enemies within the military. Part of this is over Iraq, but a larger part is over his emphasis on Army force structure transformation and changes in military procurement policy.

When will he be out? Probably with the next president, even if they're Republican. I don't see it happening before then unless he decides to step down himself. The War is winding down and the time you could use it to force him out are over.
