Corroboration for Downing Street Memo

The Los Angeles Times ran a story yesterday that gave corroborating evidence of allegations made in the Downing Street Memo that the current administration had a determined policy to change the regime in Iraq shortly after 9/11. That fact has a great deal of bearing on perceptions of whether the intelligence that was used to lead this country to war in Iraq can be credibly considered reliable or whether it may have been slanted to achieve a preconceived objective.

The article speaks for itself.

Meanwhile, the GOP is now refusing to allow Congressman John Conyers to hold any more "forums" on Capitol Hill.

James Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) is one of the angriest people I've witnessed in politics. Watching him (on C-SPAN) repeatedly interupting witnesses in the USA Patriot Act hearing so that they could not complete their testimony, and then finally gaveling the hearing closed and storming out of the room rather than to hear any further testimony was almost unbelievable. The Party has an agenda and Sensenbrenner has no patience for anyone or anything that might question or stand in the way of that agenda.

Someone has suggested that perhaps Rep. Conyers should hold the forums on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Not a bad idea.

Peace,

Mike
