I heard three memorable speeches at the CBF General Assembly in Grapevine, TX.
The first was W.C. Field's speech at the Associated Baptist Press banquet. Tony Cartledge at the North Carolina Biblical Recorder has posted a story called "Walking on the sunny side" about it.
Charles Johnson's speech at the Baptist Joint Committee luncheon was unforgettable. It was simply extraordinary. Here's the link.

I appreciate that some speeches you heard were outstanding, but I am still waiting to see if consistency is important to you. You published an opinion that the SBC was wrong to leave out the statement that Jesus is the criterion by which we interpret the Bible. Now the CBF has removed Him from its purpose statement, along with the Great Commission. Why are you so quick to criticize a group that you no longer have anything to do with, but the very group you should hold most accountable seems to escape your criticism. Do you expect to maintain credibility?

If CBF ever threatens to terminate an employee who disagrees with their purpose statement, I'll be all over them.
Comparing CBF's purpose statement to the 2000 BF&M is like comparing apples to a brick.
We certainly agree there. The BF&M actually has meaning.
